We are looking for a Senior IBM i (AS/400) Systems Engineer in Lahore for one of our client engagement. This position is responsible for IBM iSeries Systems and other Infrastructure responsibilities.
Candidate Requirements:
- Advanced level knowledge of the OS/400 operating system, DB2 database, security and query skills.
- Experienced with installing Cumulative, High Impact PERvasive (HIPER), and Group PTFs
- Experience with performing OS, VIOS, Power firmware, and HMC upgrades.
- Knowledge of how to troubleshoot ACS client issues running on Windows and MAC
- Ability to provide support to development staff as needed
- Experience with using RPG change management tool to promote code changes to development, QA and production. Experience with Aldon LMi software a plus.
- Experience with managing storage-based replication such as IBM Global Miror. Knowledge
- Experience with IBM FlashCopy toolkit and BRMS to manage backup as well as restore processes on the iSeries
- Ability to work with end users to troubleshoot and answer technical questions
- Ability to manage the relationship with external vendors to resolve problems and repairs
- Education, Licenses, Certificates, Registrations and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university required, preferably in computer related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong technical system analysis and problem-solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of server-related technologies, industry trends, terminology, communications, and hardware capabilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff
- Outstanding project and time management plus customer service skills
- 7+ years of relevant experience with iSeries System Administration & Operations
